Cookies Policy

Last updated: 29 March 2026

Genie, a service provided by Health Zone-e, Unipessoal, Lda (NIPC: PT516569929), uses cookies and similar local storage technologies to ensure the platform functions correctly, keep your session secure, and improve your development experience.

1. What are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files saved in your browser that allow us to recognise your device on future visits and remember your preferences (such as your authentication state and interface settings).

2. Cookies and Technologies We Use

a) Strictly Necessary Cookies

These are indispensable for you to access Genie and use the AI and preview features. Without them, the platform cannot function. These cookies cannot be disabled.

Origin
Supabase / genie.dev
Purpose
Management of authentication tokens (JWT), keeping the user session active between page reloads, and managing communication with preview containers (Fly.io).
Duration
Session / up to 1 year (depending on “Remember Me” option).
Legal basis
Strictly necessary — no consent required (Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive).

b) Functionality and Preference Cookies

Used to remember your interface settings so you don't have to reconfigure them on each visit.

Origin
genie.dev
Purpose
Remembering interface settings (e.g., Dark Mode), acceptance of the cookie policy, and layout preferences.
Duration
Up to 1 year.
Legal basis
Strictly necessary for the service or legitimate interest.

c) Performance and Analytics Cookies Requires consent

These cookies are only set after you provide explicit consent via the cookie banner on your first visit.

Origin
Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC)
Purpose
Anonymously distinguishing users to analyse traffic statistics, detect UI bottlenecks, and measure performance for service optimisation. IP addresses are anonymised.
Duration
Between 24 hours and 2 years depending on the specific cookie.
Legal basis
Explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR + Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive).

3. Cookie Management

Because Genie is a web application (Next.js/React), disabling essential cookies will result in the inability to log in or maintain your session.

You can manage or block analytical cookies through:

  • The consent banner displayed on your first visit to the platform.
  • Your browser settings — most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies at any time.
  • The Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Withdrawing your consent does not affect the lawfulness of cookie processing that occurred before withdrawal.

4. Changes to This Policy

This Cookies Policy may be updated to reflect changes in the technologies we use or applicable law. We will notify you of significant changes via the cookie consent banner.
